So it’s back to school soon and in many foreign countries, the kids are already back to school!
Often in the first week or two, after the kids return back to mainstream school, there is a little adjustment time and bookings can be, a little slow …
So this is the perfect time for online teachers, to prep up, swag out and buy themselves and their virtual classrooms a few super treats and treasures.
Here are our TOP TEN!
First things first!
The temperature is now cooling down as Summer draws to an end. Lots of online teachers sit for a good few hours teaching online, so it’s time to hoody up, in sheer dabbing, unicorn style:
2. Went sitting all day is just not cool or healthy!
It is true that our bodies were not created to sit all day, however many of us do just that. At Digi-teAch we invested in our health a few years ago where our office set up is concerned and we have electric, standing desks. This is good for a few reasons: Firstly you are looking after your health and changing posture which will your back, neck and shoulders will thank you for. Secondly, when you become revitalized by moving more in the day, your students will love your lessons more.
We love this, Allcam ACEDF02DW Electric Dual-motor Desk Frame / Sit-stand Workstation in White
3. Keep those camera settings pixel perfect
For those working with large, educational platforms, you will be already familiar to those – ‘system setting checks’. Failing it could lose you a days lessons or at the worst, risk your contract being terminated. Make sure your camera for you and the student is not blurry with this great Logitech webcam. If you have not tried this before as you think your inbuilt laptop or PC camera does the job fine … Prepare to be amazed. This one also has quite a bit off the RRP too, so your going to be quids in with this one:
4. You can currently get £50 off with this laptop currently
Where tech is concerned, we don’t like to cut corners but we don’t want to pay through the nose for it either. If your not yet a MAC convert, here is an HP 14-cm0983na 14 Inch Laptop – (Blue) (AMD A4-9125, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB eMMC, 1 TB OneDrive and Office 365, with 1 Year Subscription Included, Windows 10 Home – It’s a win, win.
5. If you are a MAC convert then this is for you …
The Apple MacBook Air (13-inch, 1.8 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD) – Silver is a great laptop. And with all macs, so much software from video editing to mixing up your own track on GarageBand is included for free – When your not teaching that is ….
6. WHAT???? Yes noise-reducing headphones …
Are a must for online teaching. There is a reason why the Mpow PC Headset 224, Foldable Over-Ear Headset USB Headset/3.5mm Computer Headset with Retractable Microphone, Noise Cancelling headset is a bestseller and YES we also have this headset too.
7. Prop up and be prepared
Whether it’s a 4 year old or a 10 year old – all kids love puppets right. Plus it makes your day more fun. Teaching online is much better than data entry isn’t it?
If you have a monkey and a lion – your on a home win. The other two are pure bonuses:
8. Keeping your voice
When the weather turns cold is key unless you want your bookings to plummet due to cancellations because you lost your voice!!
9. Keeping the air hydrated
Is one thing but keeping you hydrated is another. Treat yourself with this super cool, Gourmet Gadgetry Retro Diner Milk Frother and Hot Chocolate Maker, 0.55 Litre, in Metallic Red. This will keep your hot chocolate or your coffee ( if you have too) warm for a few lessons. And it’s great for those with a little sweet tooth:
10. Last but not least ….
Your very own SOS guide to extra activities with the emergency ESL/EFL: The Emergency English Teacher: Quick and Easy Activities and Games for the ESL/EFL Classroom. I know, i know – you don’t really need this but ….
We hope you find some of these useful and as always, we only recommend things that we have used ourselves, so Digi-teAch away 🙂
